Mount Paektu / Mount Changbaishan on the border between China and DPRK Democratic People Republic of Korea.

Traveling China again with my daughter Lærke who speaks chinese 🌟

This is the border between China and DPRK. It is across this mountain. Across the crater lake Tianchi in the vulcano at the top. It’s Mount Changbaishan or the holy Mount Paektu. Stunning view and experience.

DPRKs first President is believed to have been borned out of this lake.

The area is loved by the Chinese as well as the Koreans.

It’s among the 5 most loved mountains in China by Chinese and the most loved among Koreans as I understand it.

It’s stunning. The view from the top.

But also the waterfall that is frozen. The hot springs. The smaller falls and lakes and streams, and the forests in the valley.

This the area is developed to received guests at two entrances. One close to the airport and one with possibility to arrive by train. We came by local trains as we have gotten around China mostly both on this journey and in July where we traveled together for a month.

Through a huge entrance is the access with bus, then minibus to the top, and again bus between the different areas.

The top closes frequently for weather conditions, so we were lucky this day.

This day I tried wooden mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 and just really looked at the DPRK.

Bonus photos are where I got a good laugh all day:

  • young Chinese taking photos with us and each other all dressed up.

And the translated signs where the English language is so much fun.
