Colombia – Yopal and then 5 hours west to JuanSolita estate in the plains – horseback riding

Join us riding the plains of eastern Colombia 🇨🇴 Note the capibara, we met & look for the caimans we met in the deepest waters. We had passed the deep waters earlier and seen the caimans up close, so it was fun 58 get to ride through. In the nearby lake, we had met turtles and a more agressive crocodile that attacked a local woman who was feeding the turtles – will show this later. Capibara is a capivar in Danish – it’s a rodent the size of a big dog, peaceful, polygam, grass eating and living in groups where the females help each other take care of the cups. I did not get to see them enough when riding and hiking the Pantanal in Brazil 18 years ago and so looked forward to making it this time, and we did. This was Ellas first time horseback riding and luckily she loved it. We encountered owls living in wholes in the ground, red Ibis, hacks, songbirds and lots of cowboys and the white cattle that are holy in India and great meat for steaks here in Colombia and everywhere else in Latin America. Staying with this family on their estancia and estate we also contribute to the protection of the jaguars and biodiversity. This is the rainy season – less water and more animals to meet in the dryer seasons, but then also more travelers.
