Colombia – Medellin – Pablo Escobar and the drug cartels and drug war

Medellin – Sara – Pablo Escobar, drugs, cartels – favelas – eating fat ants 🐜
Botero & Flower festival (follows)

Three themes – first and most importantly meeting my friend Sara.

And then I chose Pablo Escobar, the drug war with the cartels, the memory museum on the history of this country and the way forward, and the favelas.

Pablo Escobar had a house open where he had hidden himself and his money. Well, some of them. His grave is at the grave yard that they use in all mafia movies.

When I was here in 2014, we took the entire official delegation to the cable car up the favelas. So I took the girls this time with metro and cable car.

Sara loves this country, speaks the language and know sooo much about it. We traveled to Turkmenistan together also.

We went straight to a street concert together. I got the local version of pastis. Life is good.

We stay at the Botero square. The fat nude people in these statues are always fun.

  • The next day, Laerke and Sara decided on the Medellin flower festival. They got us to a village in the mountains for a local celebration before they would go to the big festival day in Medellin. We took a public bus back.

A friend of Ella joined us, which we all enjoyed.
