Guinea: Kankan, the town in the Northeast Where the president comes from – the mosque, the Koran school and the market with sewing school for girls
Join us visiting a school. A koran school. Hard core on the teachings; poor children; mostly boys… the good thing was that the kids amd teachers were so happy to see us and interact. Hopefully they will remember us as westerners also being kind. That me and the girls we’re clearly free and empowered and educated.. that we are not covered and obedient. The kids and teachers all wished to shape hands. Kids were so happy and We were too. As I would never send my kids to a religious school and really value natural and social sciences, this was a good eye opener of the positive in people meeting people and the innovative cence of children.
We were allowed inside the grand mosque in Kankan. It’s on NomadMania and located in the middle of the market in the city centre.
On our way west again we visited other mosques. The one in Mamou is also on NomadMania and the imam allowed us in and we took a picture together. The old mosque here was more than a hundred years old.
on the way is the sanctyary of a man that muslims come to pay respect to and wish for future good things to happen. We needed our fixer Aarnor to find it for sure and to be allowed in. It’s a tentative Unesco site. Tomb og Karamoko Alpha in Timbo.
This city is the home town of the current president who was just reelected with an overwhelming 86%
Some election tshirts are with pictures of him and the chinese president. The logic being, if you elect me, we get money and cooperation from the Chinese. He signed a 20 Billlion usd deal of infrastructure for mining.
