Getting Our Hair Done By Warm-hearted Locals in Chuao

Grandmother and I have our hair braided by her sweet granddaughters. We are in the remote village, Chuao, where they live by their cocoa plantation. To get here we flew 13 hours from Istanbul to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Then drove across the mountains and the rainforest to the village Choroni. Then sailed 1/2 hour to Chuao. At the fishing village we stood on the back of a truck that took us inland through the plantation to the plantation village. They were partying. Celebrating the cocoa. So we met this beautiful village in a good mood and full of latin rhythms. The love and patience between the grandma and the daughters suited us and we joined. My daughter and I really enjoyed these moments of braiding and connecting.
